Hot, Fun in the Derby

Summer Time Fun, ridden by James Payne, and Caution Piping Hot, ridden by R.L. Chartier, both marked 226 to share the win in the Open finals of the NCHA Derby at the Metallic Cat Summer Cutting Spectacular.

Veteran Jody Galyean placed third with a 223 on Exs N Ohhs, while Payne also took fourth place with a 221.5 on Stylish Hailee.

AQHA Young Horse Development Program Heat and dust pretty much sum up August here at the ranch. We had the hottest day of the year, a whopping 108 degrees. Towards the end of the summer, you can see everything begin to tire from the dry heat. Dust blankets the rocks and trees, and every step brings its own cloud of dust.
